Mothers-in-Law, Amirite?

Today is my mom-in-lawlove‘s birthday, so we spent most of the day with the Taylors to celebrate our beloved Laurie!

When I first married Josh, I was a little intimidated by Laurie’s domestic abilities and her, ahem, motherly protectiveness. I thought I’d never measure up. But as the years have passed, she’s loved & taken care of me as if I were her own, and she’s truly become one of my closest friends. It’s been a tough couple of years since my mom’s dementia diagnosis, and sometimes I just need a “mama hug” and a good cry, but I can’t always get that from my own mom. Now, obviously, I’m not saying that Laurie could ever replace my mom.. I’m just really, really grateful for her love and support. I’m actually getting a little choked up writing about it.

So, thanks, Mom, for being my friend. Thanks for crying with me, and for letting me cry with you. Thanks for the existence of my husband – he’s my favorite person in the world so I’ll always be indebted to you for that 😉 Thanks for all the mama hugs and yummy food and for taking care of Josh and me when one or both of us is sick. You’re the best! HAPPY BIRTHDAY
