Drinking.. this week, I’ve rediscovered my love for turmeric tea – when I start my day with this inflammation-fighter, I can really tell a difference in my overall health. It makes me wonder why I ever stopped drinking it. Except, I know why, haha: it was a combination of laziness, getting tired of the same thing every day, and it being too hot for hot tea during the summer. Now that it’s cold outside and my tastebuds have come back around, I’m enjoying the return of this comforting routine.
Listening to.. a bunch of new podcasts! I was getting tired of rotating through the same 10 podcasts, so I browsed the podcast app and subscribed to 10 or so more that seemed like they could be interesting. A few of them have been busts, but my favorite new podcast is The Intern. It reminds me of the StartUp podcast when it was first, well, starting up.
Eating.. avocado toast for breakfast – not only do I feel good about the nutrients my body is getting first thing in the morning, but also IT TASTES SO GOOD. It’s becoming another comforting morning routine. I make this while the water is heating for my tea – toasting the bread, mashing the guac, sprinkling the spices, drizzling the honey.. it’s a nice, quiet moment for me to center myself at the start of the day.
Smelling.. I’ve been diffusing a lot of Thieves essential oil lately, because I feel like I’m on the verge of a cold and I’m trying to stop it in it’s tracks. I also love bergamot oil – I find the citrus smell very uplifting and pleasant – so I diffuse it throughout the day and wear it in my diffuser necklace when I go out.
Thankful for.. The temperature warming up around here! It’s supposed to be in the 50’s and 60’s this weekend. After all the snow we got last weekend (eight inches! That is very unusual for our part of the country), I am thrilled. It’s like that song by Relient K, “lately the weather has been so bipolar,” was written specifically about Nashville.
I’m also thankful this week for family nap times, our friends who rescued us from our snowed-in cabin fever last weekend, delicious/comforting food, and that my parents are back in town.
