Currently (or: Am I Tough Yet? and other personality musings)

Wearing.. Today, I got this Hufflepunk shirt in the mail from Kirby!! I put it on and immediately posed for this tough-guy photo. She’s been talking about Hufflepunk T-shirts for a couple of weeks now, so I immediately knew it was from her. I love it. I’m definitely more huffle than punk, but I’ll do my best to live up to the tough-guy badger when I wear this shirt 😉

Eating.. Last night, my mom-in-law made some DELICIOUS homemade pizzas & a healthy deep dish chocolate chip cookie for my birthday. She sent some of the cookie home with us, so I’ve been snacking on it all day. So yummy.

Watching.. Downton Abbey season 6. Every year, Josh and I avoid spoilers until it’s available for purchase in the states, then we spend a couple weeks binging through the season together. It’s one of my favorite traditions for this time of year, and I’m going to be so sad when we don’t have a new season to watch next year. 😦 (No spoilers, please! We’re only a couple of episodes in!)

Excited about.. My big birthday present from Josh this year was a pair of tickets to see The Phantom of the Opera next month! (!!!!!!!!!!!) I am SO excited. In high school, I learned several of the arias in vocal lessons, and I even performed Think of Me at my recital one year. When the Emmy Rossum/Gerard Butler movie adaption came out, I became obsessed. I’ve always wanted to see the stage production, and I’ve imagined countless times what it would be like to experience the chandelier moment in person! I can’t wait.

Thankful for.. my thoughtful husband, who can tell when I need time to myself after several days of excitement. I know it’s kind of popular right now to romanticize introvertedness, but I gotta tell you, sometimes it sucks to be so easily drained by other people. Especially when they are people that you LIKE! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been genuinely enjoying myself with friends and loved ones, when I just hit a wall – I can’t focus, I feel tired, I feel like a bad friend, and I can’t explain it, but I need to be by myself for a while. Anyway, Josh is great about recognizing that and giving me the space I need without making me feel bad about it. He checks in with me throughout the day, and loves on me, and reassures me, but if I need to chill in silence for a while, he gets out of my way. #Romance!

I’m also thankful for yummy breakfast foods, the overwhelming amount of birthday messages I got, getting to see friends from out of town this week, Survivor starting back up tonight, and fresh flowers.

What about you? What are you currently wearing, eating, watching, excited about, and/or thankful for?

  1. I could never get into Downton Abbey and gave up after the second or third season. I watched it for others who loved it as a way to relate to them, but I couldn’t do it. . .and feel badly but if you don’t like it, you don’t like it. :: sigh :: I am glad you enjoy it!!!

I love the song “Think of Me” and that is wonderful that you enjoy to sing it and will be going to see Phantom of the Opera performed!! I had wanted to see that in NYC (I live 20 mins from Broadway) back in ’96ish?. Eh. The only thing I’ve ever seen on Broadway was Riverdance (going into the city is expensive and not so fun honestly).

I’ve been watching a Korean drama lately called Heartstrings about two music majors meeting and finding love. One plays guitar and sings in a band and the other plays traditional Korean music with a neat instrument and sings too. I am really into watching several Korean dramas through drama fever (so glad they have subtitles). They are so clean and addicting.

I am wearing jeans and a shirt a friend gave me because it didn’t fit her anymore. haha. I’m a bit plain these days. Your Hufflepunk shirt is adorable.

I am excited about an ethical and fair trade chocolate event I am putting together with the human trafficking awareness organization I am a part of. I am trying to get some local bands to play at it too. It has been a lot of work but has been fun. I am thankful to be a part of their team for two years now.

  2. I cannot imagine getting the chance to see The Phantom of the Opera. We are doing just about all of the songs in my chorus class, (needless to say, it is a long performance…) and I have recently fallen in love with it. You are so fortunate!!
