Currently, I’m..

Cooking.. I tried Nutrition Stripped’s recipe for Grain-Free Walnut Bread yesterday. It’s completely delicious, but I must have done something wrong because I didn’t get anywhere near the height she got in her photos. My bread is dense and too small for sandwiches. But it’s really freakin’ tasty and I already know that I’ll make it again.

Enjoying.. Yoga! I’ve done some simple beginner’s yoga four days in a row, and I’m honestly surprised at how much I’m enjoying it. I thought I would have to really force myself to do it every day, but that hasn’t been my experience so far. Fingers crossed that I can keep that attitude!

Feeling.. SO MUCH BETTER THAN I DID! I have so much energy, I almost don’t know what to do with myself. (Don’t worry, I’m still taking things slow and listening when my body tells me to rest – trust me, I know how important that is). I’m still not entirely comfortable leaving the house unless it’s my in-law’s, but I’ve been immeasurably more productive in the last few days than I was even before getting ill.

sucks. Yesterday I sat down to balance the budget for April and it inexplicably wouldn’t balance. So frustrating! Long story short, we made some transcription errors, but DANG was it irritating in the moment. We have a great budgeting program that makes the whole process super simple, but it can only be so helpful when you’ve made a mistake on your end of things, ha.

Thankful for.. sandal weather, Amazon 2-day shipping, lavender, my himalayan salt lamp, boiled eggs, feeling motivated, Adriene, productive days, being able to laugh with Josh even during frustrating conversations, having energy back in abundance, and coconut oil making my hair soft & shiny.

  1. That is great about your energy burst! Good for you!! I have never made a budget and am curious so I clicked the link you posted to see about doing so. We usually come out even each month. . . not always easy. Great thankful list.

    I’m going to make some “spicy” roasted potatoes tonight and something chickeny. I just tried to dye my hair with honey and cinnamon and conditioner mixed together. I am not sure if it will do a thing but my hair might at least be stronger and lovelier for a day or two. We’ll see. I am thankful for documentaries on penguins because my sons keep repeating things they are learning from it with deep interest while I have some time to just relax a bit.


  2. I’m so glad you’re feeling better! I’m curious, when you do a coconut oil mask in your hair do you use pure coconut oil? And how do you wash it out? It takes me at least three days to get all of the greasiness out after I do a coconut oil mask.


    • Yeah, I use straight-up coconut oil. You’re probably using too much! You need waaaay less than you’d think. The first time I did it, it took me a couple of washes to get it all out, too. But I’ve found that if I only use a blob about the size of a nickel (or smaller) and focus mainly on the ends (don’t massage it into your scalp!), it’ll come out easily with a nice lather & rinse. Hope that helps 🙂

  3. I gave my hair an apple cider vinegar rinse (diluted in water then rinsed out). I’ve used ACV for cleaning, potato salad, and food poisoning, but this is my first time using it on my hair.

    Great to hear that your energy level continues to be good!


    • Thanks! My brother-in-law Jordan switched to completely using ACV for his hair a few months ago, and he’s reported good results. I’ve heard it takes a few washes for your hair to get used to it, but it’s really, really healthy for it in the long run, so good for you!
