Friday Favs: Calm & Normal, Star Wars, and Spider-Man

One of my goals this week was to spend less time on the internet (especially social media). Because of that, I had zero saved links to share with y’all this week. I was going to do another “pretty stock photos” mood board post. But then I hopped on twitter and within five minutes I saw the first two items and I went “OKAY I LOVE THESE BOTH; I’ve gotta do a links post.” Then I remembered a podcast I enjoyed earlier this week and there’s your third. Three’s enough! Throw in one of the pretty photos from plan A, and I’ve got a completed post. Yay.

Now that you have more details about the construction of this blog post than you ever needed, here are some cool things I wanted to share:

Rusty Clanton’s new single “You’re In My Head” was released last night and it’s totally my new jam. I’m SO EXCITED about his new album Calm & Normal that’s releasing next week – the clip of the title track in the gorgeous announcement video he put up on twitter reminds me of a couple of my favorite bands while also being completely original. “You’re In My Head” does the same thing! Give it a listen; I think you’ll like it as much as I do:

Donald Glover has been cast as LANDO!! I’ve been nervous about the young Han Solo film (I still kinda am because I love the character of Han so much), but at least I can have complete faith that Lando Calrissian is going to be awesome, because Donald Glover is so good at what he does.

This American Life’s episode My Undesirable Talent was really entertaining, especially Act One about a burglar the police nicknamed “Spider-Man.” I don’t want to give anything away. I’ll just say that when they finally caught the guy it wasn’t who you’d expect!

What’s your favorite thing you’ve come across this week? Happy weekend, friends!

  1. I don’t know if I like Star Wars spreading out so so so so much beyond the originals now that there are going to even be prequels for Han’s life. That is so strange to me >.< I'm not sure I can adjust yet, BUT I think Donald Glover will be great as Lando!

I wonder if George Lucas regrets selling to Disney…

The song you posted sounds lovely!!! I like it!

    • Yeah, I feel the same way! I mean, on one hand OF COURSE I’m excited for more because it’s Star Wars, but on the other hand I am afraid I will get tired of it and/or I’ll stop enjoying the stories.

  2. Aw Rusty Clanton; you reminded me of seeing him (and Tessa and Dodie and Jon) in a concert this past spring, good memories. He is such a sweetheart. He played his set first and he was so gentle and heartfelt in the way he performed… I avoid concerts at all costs due to anxiety, but I wanted to seem this one and so I last minute bought a ticket and went – and it was so nice, very small & intimate and a venue where I felt comfortable, one of the best nights I’ve had in a long time, I’m so glad I went!

Isn’t he from Tennessee? Have you seen him or Tessa Violet in concert? If not, you should if you get the chance! 🙂
