3 Fruits

I’ve been trying to eat more fruit lately because it’s something I don’t get enough of in my diet. The problem is that I’m not a huge fan of fruit. I can enjoy a few bites of most fruits, but by the end of the serving it’s usually too sweet or tart or mushy for me.

An obvious fix would be to mix them, so I’m getting more variety as I finish one serving. I’m going to try to start doing that. I also put fruit in my daily supplemental nutrition shake, but not too much because it messes with the consistency.

Anyway, since I’ve been struggling with this lately, I thought I’d try to think of the fruits that I don’t hate right now… a tiny mental exercise in finding the positive, if you will.

1. Papaya
It’s got kind of a weird taste if you’re not used to it, but I find it refreshing! Bonus points because it’s great for digestion.

2. Bananas
To me, bananas aren’t very good by themselves.. they need almond or peanut butter, a tart fruit to pair it with, or some kind of texture. But if they’re paired with one of those things, I can handle the taste of them. They’re also good in smoothies (frozen bananas really help you get a creamy consistency).

3. Green grapes
I go through cycles of whether I prefer green or purple grapes. Right now I’m enjoying the more tart, green kind. The best thing about grapes is they’re so easy to take along with you and eat on the run without getting messy.

A note: You might remember I wrote about a month ago that I love raspberries.. but I had to stop eating them because of the tiny seeds! They’re not easy on my digestion. Same with strawberries 😦 It’s a real bummer.

What is your favorite fruit?

  1. That is really sad about the tiny seeds in raspberries doing that! 😦
These fruits all look beautiful. my 9 year old prefers green grapes too.
Whenever I hear, “papaya” I think of that one Christian kids song I grew up singing that goes, “I like bananas, I know that mangos are sweet, I like papayas – papayas – but nothing can beat the sweet love of God….”
