The W’s

Currently, I’m…

Y’all, I’m 3/4 of the way through PBS’ new Anne of Green Gables and I’m sorry to say that I’m not impressed. I really tried to give it a chance! REALLY! I was defending it to friends! I didn’t expect it to live up to the original, but even with low-yet-hopeful expectations, I am not sold. I don’t remember Anne giggling so much. And Megan Follows was just so earnest in her portrayal that any actress trying to fill her shoes is bound to fall short. :/

My daily uniform: sweatpants, t-shirt, moccasins, oversized knit cardigan. Also this almost-always-accurate sweatshirt that Josh gave me last Christmas (he got it from Amazon):

on finally rearranging our bedroom! Josh surprised me with an actual bed frame, a dresser we can share, and end tables. We’ve been sleeping on a grounded mattress for three years, never had proper end tables, and our dressers weren’t really working for us.. so the upgrades were well needed! The bedroom isn’t finished yet but it already feels so much more put together and grown-up now. I love it.

about the wildfires in Gatlinburg and The Great Smoky Mountains National Park! Such a heartbreaker.. that area is one of my favorite places in the world. Josh and I honeymooned in Gatlinburg so it is near to our heart. If you’d like to help, we’ve got a connection on the ground nearby who is raising money for needed supplies. Click here.

Thankful for
• warm baths • apple cider • comfort in the midst of uncertainty • toasted pecans • that Josh likes to surprise me! • the way the Christmas tree lights up the house in the evening • that I’m almost done shopping for Christmas gifts • introspective activity journals • much-needed rain in TN • the kindness of strangers •  the lessons I’m learning in my life: to compartmentalize, that bad things don’t have to spoil the good things, and to linger on the good things •

What are you currently watching, wearing, working on, wrecked/ing, and/or thankful for this week?

  1. NO version of Anne of Green Gables will ever compare with the Megan Fellowes one. It’s like no version of Pride and Prejudice will ever compare with the BBC 1995 version. It’s one of those things.

    (We must be (ex)-homeschoolers.) 😉

  2. Oh man, I saw the news about that fire! It is really sad. I had always wanted to go there! Your shirt is funny. Oh man, I thought there was a new Anne of Green Gables. You know, Netflix is also doing a show called “Anne” coming soon and I thought that was the one that people were watching on Thanksgiving. Now I am okay with missing that other one. Either way, Megan Follows forever!!!!

I am happy for you about the bed frame and all that!!! I used to have a bed frame but I have issues where I spent my teen years sleeping directly on the floor so I need to have a low bed. . .Rob’s had his eye on a bed frame all year though that I think we MIGHT get with the next tax return. Our mattress is so old (got it from my mom as an early wedding present when I was 19) and breaking so we have to replace that as it is. Congratulations on the end tables and the dresser! We share a dresser too, but out of the 4 or 5 drawers it has, we each only use one! The bed frame will actually have drawers on the bottom of it that we plan on getting!

currently watching: I am going to watch a movie soon, not sure which one.
wearing: a colorful skirt I wear every week a couple times a week from Lula Roe and a black tee
working on: About to get the boys to do their laundry with me (which we do by hand)
wrecked/ing, and/or thankful for this week: I saw Cowspiracy finally last night. . .and it is making me really want to stop eating meat all together because it was highly educational. I don’t think I could give up fish though. I am thankful for candles. They smell great and are pretty.

  3. Not sure if this counts as “currently watching,” but I recently saw Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and I thought it was really good. A more lighthearted, uplifting movie, compared to all the dark-looking ones out there.
